Supernal teamed up with Hyundai Motor Group to bring you best of automotive design and engineering to aerospace. Inspired by the beauty and efficiency of nature’s designs, the S-A2 is Supernal’s latest eVTOL. Everything about it is state-of-the-art. Better yet, it’s built to anticipate and seamlessly incorporate tomorrow’s technology. We believe it will set the gold standard for Advanced Air Mobility.

The Supernal S-A2 is a passenger and air cargo eVTOL concept design aircraft. The interior of the aircraft is easily changeable allowing for a two passenger, four passenger or air cargo configuration. The passenger layout will also have room for luggage. The aircraft will have one pilot initially and in the future, the aircraft will be piloted by artificial intelligence (AI).

The fuselage is made from carbon fiber composite for a high strength and low weight ratio. The windows are larger than conventional aircraft providing excellent views for the passengers. The windows were modeled from insects.

Speed is estimated to be 120 mph, the functional range is 40 nautical miles, and the flight ceiling is 1,500 feet. We’re estimating that the battery size is somewhere in the 150-300-kWh range.

Inside the cabin, half of the four passenger seats can be easily removed, and all four can completely come out to carry cargo. Passengers will have USB ports to charge devices, as well as some storage for personal items.

According to Supernal, the electric aircraft will be significantly quieter than helicopters or airplanes, generating about as much noise as a dishwasher. During takeoff and landing, the aircraft produces about 65 decibels, which drops down to 45 decibels during cruise flight.

Although Supernal’s eVTOL aircraft will initially fly with pilots on board, the company is also developing autonomous flight technology that it hopes will someday enable remotely piloted air taxi operations with up to five passengers on board.
