The folks at Practical Motorhome shared this innovative van recently. It’s called the DoubleBack, and I thought it was worth highlighting here.Practical Motorhome’s Jeremiah Mahadevan runs the rule over the stunning, innovative Doubleback camper, based on the venerable long-wheel base VW T5.

The Danbury Doubleback has a great full-sized kitchen and dining area with four to five seats configured into it. The kitchen has new appliances that are high-quality and will last for many years to come.

The seating looks so elegant and rich compared to the plain dull look of the outside.The back is a pod that slides out to give more seating for the inside. The rear extension is manufactured with aircraft materials, making it both light and durable.

It sleeps up to four people comfortably, though only two people can travel in the van.Powered by VW’s 2.0 TDI engine, and featuring an electric slide-out rear pod that adds almost six feet to the length of the vehicle when stationary, a pop-up roof that lets you walk comfortably around in the living area.

Self-leveling feet drop down from the rear extension, making sure the cantilevered zone remains level at all times, including on variegated terrain.
