Designed and produced by a company called Ryno Motors out of Portland, Oregon, the Ryno is a small, all-electric “micro cycle” designed by an engineer named Chris Hoffmann.

The Ryno is an electric vehicle and has a special balancing system, which does not let the driver fall. According to Ryno Motors, it is also something quite safe to use. Still in testing phase, the bike reaches a maximum of 25mph and will run for 50miles on one battery charge.

The entire vehicle weighs 160 pounds, with the wheel-and-motor portion accounting for most of that. The Ryno has two electric motors, two controllers, and four gyroscopes.

Switched on, it maintains its balance, and small buttons adjust the angle to suit the rider. Lean forward to accelerate; lean back to decelerate. Shift your weight or stand on the pedals, and it’s like skiing or surfing.

To steer, it’s more about rotating the hips than twisting the handlebars. The Ryno travels at speeds up to 10 MPH and can travel up to 10 miles on a fully charged battery. RYNO relies on the same balance technology as other electronically stabilized products like remote controlled helicopters and jet planes. It uses the combination of an accelerometer sensor that knows where the center of the earth is, a gyroscopic sensor that is highly reactive to sensing tilt angles. Disclaimer: For now RYNO Motors has stopped production it used to cost around $5000k, its not for sale anymore.
