The design team at Zukun Plan has worked to create a near-future electric dirt bike concept, the Z56.Designed by Matt Barnum, the Z56 is a children’s electric dirt bike concept that aims to disrupt the gas-dependent motorsports industry without sacrificing its characteristic power and freedom. The driving idea: design a dirt bike that looks and feels like the future of the sport while remaining absolutely relatable and recognizable to enthusiasts.

Current dirt bike design trends seem hell-bent on adding excessive styling lines and graphics, and many future-vision concepts alienate consumers by deviating so far from the norm that they sacrifice relatability. Zukun Plan worked to ensure neither was the result of this project. By blending classic motorsport style with sophisticated, modern lines and forms, Z56 points toward a cleaner, simpler, and more efficient future.

Designed around a 10Ah 56 volt power source, Zukun Plan decided to highlight the battery as a central and iconic part of the design, rather than hide it. Z56 is proud to be electric—highlighting its electrical components and celebrating the move away from petroleum dependence and the internal combustion engine.

The Z56 is designed for kids ages 6-11 and utilizes a maintenance-free 1000 watt DC brushless motor that provides ample torque for instant acceleration and spirited riding.

The battery pack provides roughly one hour of riding and a depleted pack can be charged in about one hour. By utilizing two batteries, continuous all-day riding is possible. The lightweight lithium pack makes for a quicker, more agile, and easier-to-handle dirt bike.

No noise, no emissions, and no motor maintenance means more time and places to ride. Z56 creates countless new riding opportunities as it can be ridden in areas which would have been previously forbidden to gas-powered bikes due to pollution and noise. Additionally, the minimized weight and lack of oil and gas makes for more convenient ownership, transport, and rider experience.
