UK startup Elevate Racing unveiled its first product AirKart, which is a single-seat eVTOL vehicle designed for both flying and racing. AirKart is a single-seat eVTOL designed primarily for low-altitude, high-speed competitive flights.

The AirKart may look like a quadcopter, it actually sports eight ducted coaxial propellers stacked in four groups of two. This design reportedly allows the vehicle to execute a safe automated landing even if four of its eight motors fail, while it includes comprehensive safety features, it’s not intended for commuting or errands.

The AirKart will be electronically limited to a top speed of 100 km/h and a maximum altitude of 400 m. For this reason and others, a pilot’s license should not be necessary in the US and many other regions. The flight time of the AirKart is about 15 minutes on a full battery. AirKart is offered for use at tracks called AeroKarting Tracks. A person can rent the vehicle for about 15 minutes for 249 USD.
